MONKEY MOVES

Is a 45 minute session best suited to children aged 3- 5 years, un-accompanied by an adult. This is a drama and movement group. It is based on music, both recorded and sung. It is an all action session with a mix of warm-up and co-ordination excercices, dramatic activities, creative movement, dance and group games. The aim of this group  is to really encourage children to express themselves freely and confidently through their bodies. Some need to be supported to 'come out'  of their shell and others will just love the opportunity to perform.

As opposed to Monkey Music where props and puppets are used, in Moves the children are encouraged to act out, pretend, mime, dance, move and play. We begin with doing most activities as a group, but they are given opportunities to get up by themselves or in pairs/threes. Children are never made to do anything they are not comfortable with, but will be actively encouraged to push themselves forward a little at a time to gain confidence. This group’s direction is led by the particular group of children for that term, and their strengths, interests, stage of development and experience. The individual children are taken in to account when planning from week to week, and catered for according to each of their needs.
